Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle is scheduled to hold a series of high-level diplomatic and bilateral meetings in New Delhi on Friday, the second day of his three-day visit to India.

Wagle will attend a high-level diplomatic dialogue hosted by former Indian foreign secretary Shyam Saran at the India International Centre at 9am. Wagle will be the chief guest at the event and is expected to share his views on Nepal-India relations and economic cooperation.

On Thursday, Wagle held talks with his Indian counterpart, Nirmala Sitharaman. He thanked India for its support in the aftermath of the Bhotekoshi floods and discussed possible Indian support for post-disaster reconstruction, prospects for high-level visits, the use of Indian lines of credit, and ways to expedite key bilateral projects, including the Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project.

Wagle is also scheduled to meet Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at 5pm on Friday. The meeting is expected to cover bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

Later in the day, Wagle will participate in an interaction hosted by Javed Ashraf, president of the Trade Promotion Organisation of India, at Bharat Mandapam. The event will bring together officials and other stakeholders to discuss various aspects of Nepal-India economic cooperation.

Wagle arrived in New Delhi on Thursday for the three-day visit. He held talks with Sitharaman on the first day of his visit.

The Nepali delegation accompanying Wagle includes Amrit Lamsal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance; Gehendra Raj Bhandari, joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr Surendra Thapa, deputy chief of mission at the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi; Taranath Adhikari, economic minister at the embassy; and Kanchan Basnet, private deputy secretary to the finance minister.

On Saturday, the final day of his visit, Wagle is scheduled to meet representatives of the Indian private sector and hold other high-level meetings before returning to Kathmandu.
