River clean-up campaign continues

Seven metric tonnes of solid waste was collected from Bagmati River in Tripureshwor area the Bagmati Mega Clean-up Campaign entered 186th week on Saturday.
Chief Secretary Som Lal Subedi, Secretary at Ministry of Local Development Kedar Bahadur Adhikari and former secretary Kishor Thapa, other government officials and volunteers participated in the clean-up drive.
Similarly, six metric tonnes of garbage was extracted from Bishnumati River as the clean-up drive entered 119th week.
The campaign was led by Rudra Singh Tamang, chief and executive of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Unauthorised structures built near the river were also removed.
The Nakhhu River Clean-up Campaign on Saturday reached 66th week. The campaigners removed two metric tonnes of solid waste from the river near Nakhhu Jail area.
Volunteers on Saturday also cleaned Gaushala to Kamalpokhari area with water cannons to mark the 145th week of Rudramati River Clean-up Campaign.
