Nepali Congress (NC) Vice-president Ram Chandra Poudel has said he would formally announce his candidacy for the party presidency shortly. 

“I will run for the president’s post under any circumstances. I am going to announce my candidacy soon,” Poudel said, talking to reporters at Biratnagar Airport on Friday.

The NC leader said he would file his candidacy at the upcoming 13th General Convention with the support from party President Sushil Koirala.

“Sushil Koirala is not going to run for the post of president. He will support my candidacy,” Poudel said. 

“I am running for the post according to the desire of people and made a lot of preparations. I am not going to give it up to anyone this time round,” he added.

Poudel, however, remained mum about his candidacy at the gathering of district 

presidents, constituency 

presidents and Mahasimiti members organised by NC central training department. Stating that the convention is the litmus test of the NC party, he said that the party will be unsuccessful if they could not end the dispute over power sharing.
