A 24-year-old man was killed in an elephant attack at the Pushpalal Community Forest in Bellauri Municipality Ward 5, Kanchanpur district.
The Sub-division Forest Office has identified the victim as Umesh Chaudhary, a resident of the same locality. Umesh and his two friends, Roshan Chaudhary and Nabin Chaudhary, were returning home on a motorcycle when they were attacked by the elephant. While Roshan and Nabin managed to escape, Umesh was killed on the spot.
Local authorities are investigating the incident as conflicts between humans and wildlife continue to pose a serious threat in the region.
