A 60-year-old man died in an attack by wild elephants at ward 3 of Haldibari Rural Municipality in Jhapa district on Thursday.
The District Police Office in Jhapa identified the victim as Wangdi Gurung, a resident of the same ward. Gurung was attacked while he was returning home after collecting grass at Ranakali Community Forest.
According to eyewitnesses, a herd of around 10 elephants chased Gurung and trampled him to death.
