Prime Minister Karki, political leaders cast votes
Voting underway nationwide with heightened security at key polling centres.Post Report
Prime Minister Sushila Karki cast her vote at a polling centre in Dhapasi, Kathmandu, in the House of Representatives elections on Wednesday.
Several top political leaders and candidates also voted in the early hours of the parliamentary elections. Shram Sanskriti Party chair Harkraj Sampang, running for Sunsari-1, cast his ballot at Carmel School in ward 19 of Inaruwa Municipality.
Nepali Communist Party leader and candidate Madhav Kumar Nepal voted at a polling centre in Gaur Municipality, Rautahat.
Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, representing Chitwan-2, voted in Kathmandu. Senior RSP leader Balen Shah, former mayor of Kathmandu and candidate from Jhapa-5, cast his vote at Annapurna Binayak School in Sinamangal, Kathmandu. RSP leader Sobita Gautam, candidate from Chitwan-3, also voted early in the day.

Nepali Communist Party Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal voted at Nepal Police School in Shantipur, ward 14 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitwan-3. Leaders Barshaman Pun and Onsari Gharti Magar cast their votes at Baludaya Secondary School in Rolpa, their home district.
UML leaders also participated actively. General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, candidate from Dang-2, voted at Bidyapeeth polling centre in Bijauri. Vice Chairman Bishnu Poudel, representing Rupandehi-2, cast his ballot at the Western Division Road Office polling centre in Butwal.

The Election Commission said voting began enthusiastically across the country, with no major disruptions reported. Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said, “Preliminary reports indicate that voting is proceeding smoothly at all centres.”



Thapa, running from Sarlahi-4, has been proposed by his party as the prime minister.
