The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to add two new vice-chair positions, increasing the total number of vice-chairs to four. Party spokesperson Manish Jha said the decision was endorsed by the party’s central committee meeting on Sunday.
Jha said the expansion of leadership roles—including additional office bearers—was aimed at accommodating political parties and groups that recently unified with the RSP.
With the latest changes, the RSP’s vice-chairs are DP Aryal and Swarnim Wagle, with Kulman Ghising set to join the leadership as part of the earlier unification agreement with Ujyalo Nepal Party.
The party will also have two general secretaries and three deputy general secretaries, along with three deputy spokespersons.
In a parallel decision, the RSP formed a subcommittee led by vice-chair Wagle to recommend candidates under the first-past-the-post category seats to be elected in the March 5 House of Representatives elections. According to Jha, the subcommittee will identify qualified candidates and recommend both names and procedures. Members of the selection panel will be appointed by the party secretariat.
Another subcommittee—tasked with managing party integration—has been formed under General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti. The panel will facilitate the unification process and oversee structural adjustments, with its members also to be nominated by the secretariat.
Meanwhile, seven members from Bibeksheel Sajha Party—who recently joined the RSP—have been inducted into the central committee. The new members include Samiksha Baskota, Ranju Darshana, Prakash Chandra Pariyar, Suraj Pradhan, Navaraj Thapa, Ashutosh Pradhan and Dhanej Thapa.
The party’s central committee meeting, currently under way at the party’s Banasthali headquarters, is also discussing proportional representation lists and further inclusion of leaders and groups that joined the party through recent mergers.
