Saudi Arabia grants amnesty until 18 April for expired visa holders, permits direct exit
Ministry says holders of visit, Umrah, transit, and final exit visas expired by February 25 can either renew their status or leave without penalties.Post Report
Saudi Arabia has announced a major relief measure for foreign nationals whose residency permits or visas have expired.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior stated that special provisions have been implemented to manage the status of foreigners who were unable to leave the country on time due to regional circumstances.
According to the ministry, two options have been provided to holders of all visa types—including visit, Umrah, transit, and final exit visas—that expired on or before February 25, 2026.
Under the first option, visas can be renewed until April 18, through the Absher platform upon a company’s request and payment of the prescribed fees.
The second option allows individuals to return to their home countries directly through international ports of entry without renewing their visas and without paying any additional fees or fines.
The Ministry of Interior stated that this arrangement was implemented following directives from the Saudi leadership. The decision comes in light of recent regional tensions, which have prevented many foreign workers and visitors from returning home within their stipulated timeframes.
"Individuals utilising this facility must depart Saudi Arabia by April 18," the ministry stated. "Failure to do so will result in legal action according to the laws governing visa expiration and residency violations."
This decision is expected to provide significant relief to thousands of foreign workers and visitors, including Nepalis currently in the Kingdom.
