Two Nepalis were killed after being hit by a train in Romania’s eastern city of Bacău early Sunday morning. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.
According to a statement from the Bacău Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU), the two were struck by a train at around 3:21 am while walking along the railway line near Chimiei Street.
Emergency responders, including ambulances, rescue teams and medical personnel, reached the site shortly after receiving information about the incident. They found both individuals dead upon arrival, the ISU said.
Romanian police and railway authorities have launched an investigation into the accident.
“An investigation is underway to establish how they ended up on the railway line and the circumstances that led to the accident,” the ISU said in its statement.
