The Government of Qatar has issued an emergency advisory urging citizens, residents and migrant workers to remain indoors unless travel is necessary, following heightened regional tensions in the Middle East.
An estimated 400,000 Nepalis are currently employed in Qatar.
In an official press release issued on Saturday afternoon after Israeli and United States attacks on Iran, the Qatari government clarified that the country’s internal security situation remains “fully stable and secure”.
It noted that security agencies are monitoring developments round the clock and coordinating through an integrated operational system to strengthen public safety.
“Relevant authorities are working in coordination to enhance public security, ensure the safety of citizens, residents and visitors, and guarantee the uninterrupted delivery of essential services,” the statement said.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior has urged the public to rely only on verified and official sources for information. The ministry also called on residents to refrain from paying attention to rumours or messages circulated through unknown sources and to avoid sharing unverified news or video content on social media platforms.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defence of Qatar stated that several attempted attacks targeting Qatari territory had been successfully thwarted. The ministry said threats were immediately contained in line with pre-approved security plans and that all incoming missiles were intercepted before reaching Qatari soil.
Qatar hosts a major United States military base located near Sanaiya, an area densely populated by migrant workers.
The Gulf nation had previously faced security concerns when Iran targeted military installations in Qatar during earlier hostilities involving Israel and Iran.
