Radio Kantipur honours veteran musician Madan Singh Nepali

Radio Kantipur has honoured veteran singer, composer and guitarist Madan Singh Nepali through its “Salam Jyundo Itihaslai” programme, recognising his more than four decades of contribution to Nepali music.
Nepali was felicitated during a special programme held at the Kantipur Television studio in Tinkune, Kathmandu.
Anil Bogati, chief of news at Radio Kantipur, presented Nepali with a shawl and a certificate of appreciation.
The event featured musical tributes to Nepali’s popular songs by a new generation of artists, including Benup Chhetri, Prashan Rajbhandari, Raju Tamang, Jyoti Tamang and Salina BK. They were accompanied by Sundar K Maharjan on drums, Siddhanta Sherchan on guitar, Sunil S Nepali on keyboards and Krishna Limbu on bass guitar.
Radio Kantipur said the honour recognised Nepali’s unwavering contribution to the Nepali music industry over more than four decades.
Nepali began his career as an instrumentalist and has worked on the instrumentation and arrangement of more than 5,000 songs. Alongside his work behind the scenes, he has also composed and performed his own music.
Born in Dillibazar, Kathmandu, in 1961 to Ganesh Bahadur Pariyar and Santa Kumari, Nepali remains active in music and instrumentation. His solo albums “Relimai Relimai” and “Pal Pal Raharma” continue to enjoy wide popularity.
Radio Kantipur regularly honours distinguished figures from the fields of music and the arts through its “Salam Jyuundo Itihaslai” programme.
