The government and the family of 15-year-old Ganesh Yadav, who was killed during unrest in Golbazar, Siraha, reached a seven-point agreement late on Friday night after hours of negotiations.

The deal came after the victim's family waited for more than eight hours to meet Home Minister Sudan Gurung. The talks were delayed as the minister remained engaged in meetings in Lahan before travelling to Golbazar.

The agreement was signed shortly before midnight by Ganesh's father, Rambriksha Yadav, and Minister Gurung.

Under the agreement, the Ministry of Home Affairs has committed to immediately initiate the process of declaring Ganesh a national martyr. The government will also provide his family with Rs1 million in relief assistance.

The government has further pledged to carry out an impartial and effective investigation into the killing and ensure that those found responsible are prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The agreement also commits the government to employing one eligible member of the bereaved family. It states that the recommendations of the investigation committee formed to examine the incident will be implemented through the legal process.

In Ganesh's memory, the government has agreed to coordinate with the local authorities to establish a memorial park at a suitable location within the rural municipality and initiate the necessary procedures for its construction.

The ministry has also pledged to arrange free education for Ganesh's brother and sister and ensure that his mother receives free treatment at a government hospital.

In accordance with the agreement, Ganesh's funeral is scheduled to take place at 10 am on Saturday.
