Citizens urged to follow official sources and avoid posts that could cause confusion about security situation.Post Report
The Nepali Embassy in Abu Dhabi has urged Nepali citizens in the UAE to avoid spreading unverified information on social media and not to take or post photos or videos that could create confusion about the security situation.
The UAE authorities have warned that such actions are punishable under the law, the embassy said. Citizens are advised to follow official UAE sources for updates, including the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence, Interior, and the Dubai and Abu Dhabi media offices.
Approximately 700,000 Nepalis reside in the UAE. The embassy has advised minimising outdoor activity, staying indoors, and maintaining regular contact with the embassy for support (+971-508180280). Nepalis in Qatar and Iran have been similarly advised to avoid unauthorised travel and follow local security directives (Doha embassy: +974-66214419).
The advisory follows US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Iran’s retaliatory attacks across Gulf countries, including the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Qatar.
Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated there are no reports of Nepali casualties, but emphasised vigilance and adherence to local authorities’ instructions.
Political leaders, including Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli, and Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane, have expressed concern for Nepalis’ safety. They urged the government and embassies to maintain high alert, prepare for possible evacuations, and provide regular updates.
Tribhuvan International Airport has warned of potential flight delays or cancellations to affected West Asian countries due to airspace restrictions.
Critical UAE emergency contacts include police (999), ambulance (998), fire/civil defence (997), electricity (991), water (992), coast guard (996), and the government helpline (800 555).
