Fifteen trekkers, including three British nationals, were rescued from the Dhaulagiri circuit after being trapped in heavy snowfall in the Hidden Valley area.
Post Report
Fifteen trekkers, including three British nationals, have been rescued from the snow-affected Hidden Valley area of Mustang after being trapped by heavy snowfall along the Dhaulagiri Circuit Trail.
According to the Nepali Army, the tourists had been stranded since Tuesday after heavy snowfall hit the high-altitude region, located at around 4,900 metres.
The rescue operation was carried out by a joint team of the Nepali Army’s High Mountain Training School and Indrabox Battalion, along with the Armed Police Force, Nepal Police, and local guides.
Despite poor visibility, severe weather, and communication difficulties, the rescue team set up a temporary base at Yak Kharka and reached the stranded trekkers at Batasedanda after three days of continuous effort.
The rescued tourists were safely brought down to Yak Kharka and are being escorted to Jomsom along with the joint rescue team.
