Khagendra Sunar appears before Kavre District Court
Sunar was recommended for labour minister, but his name was dropped after controversies surfaced.Post Report
Dalit rights activist Khagendra Sunar appeared before the Kavrepalanchok District Court on Thursday.
According to court registrar Indira Karki Gelal, Sunar appeared to record his statement in a case related to violation of the Electronic Transactions Act.
Advocate Manisha Gautam had filed the case against Sunar, accusing him of verbally abusing her on social media. The Kavre court had issued an arrest warrant against him on July 21, authorising Dailekh police to detain him.
Sunar, who had been absconding in the case, was accompanied by his legal representatives during the court appearance. The court is preparing to hold a detention hearing after his statement is completed.
He also faces another arrest warrant in Surkhet for allegedly vandalising a health facility and assaulting health workers.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki had dropped his name as the labour minister after the media reported on his pending cases.
