The Ministry of Home Affairs has declared Wednesday a public holiday across Nepal to observe national mourning for those who lost their lives during the Gen-Z movement.
Anand Kafle, the ministry’s spokesperson, said in a statement on Tuesday that the government has decided to grant a public holiday on Wednesday to mourn the tragic loss of life during the demonstrations on September 8 and 9.
All government offices, Nepali embassies, and missions abroad will remain closed on September 17, Kafle added.
The announcement also stated that the national flag will be flown at half-mast to honour the martyrs who died during the movement.
