Post Report
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday departed for Seville, Spain, to attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4), scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 3.
He is leading a 21-member official delegation to the high-level development summit.
The prime minister was seen off by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, among other ministers and high-ranking government officials.
The prime minister briefed the federal parliament on his Spain visit earlier on Saturday.
According to the ministry of foreign affairs, the FFD4 summit will focus on mobilising sustainable finance for development, with a particular emphasis on the needs of least developed countries in the post-pandemic context. The once-in-a-decade conference brings together global leaders, international institutions, and civil society to shape strategies for financing global development.
During the visit, Prime Minister Oli will deliver remarks as chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Least Developed Countries. He is also expected to participate in civil society dialogues, high-level panels, and side events throughout the four-day summit.
The prime minister’s itinerary includes a meeting with Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez and attendance at an official reception hosted by King Felipe VI of Spain.
Accompanying Prime Minister Oli are his spouse Radhika Shakya, Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, and other senior government officials. The delegation is scheduled to return to Nepal on July 4.
