Rubio calls Rabi Lamichhane, offers additional support after Bhotekoshi floods

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane and expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the Bhotekoshi floods, according to the party.
During the telephone conversation, Rubio expressed solidarity with the people and government of Nepal and said the United States was ready to provide additional support, the RSP said in a statement posted on X.
Lamichhane told Rubio that the government was mobilising all available resources for ongoing search, rescue, and relief operations following the floods.
He also assured Rubio that Nepal was committed to the safety and security of foreign nationals as well as Nepali citizens, according to the statement.
Lamichhane thanked the US government for its support during the disaster.
The death toll from the floods had reached 1,341 as of Monday morning, while around 5,000 people were still unaccounted for. The floods also severely damaged roads, bridges, and other vital infrastructure.
