Post Report
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday briefed the House of Representatives about his scheduled official visit to Spain to attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4).
Addressing the parliament, Oli said he would depart on Saturday evening, on a Qatar Airways flight via Doha, and is scheduled to arrive in Spain on Sunday. The high-level conference is set to be held in Seville from June 30 to July 3.
The prime minister noted that the FFD4 summit, held once every decade, brings together global leaders, development partners, and international institutions to discuss sustainable financing strategies for global development, with particular focus on the needs of least developed countries in the post-pandemic context.
Oli informed lawmakers that he will lead a 21-member delegation to the summit. On the second day of the visit, the delegation will travel to Seville, where Oli will attend a civil society event and deliver remarks in his capacity as Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of the Least Developed Countries, as well as in his national capacity.
Prime Minister Oli is also scheduled to meet with the Prime Minister of Spain and attend an official reception hosted by King of Spain Felipe VI. Fifteen participants from Nepal’s side will join Prime Minister Oli during the event.
During the conference, he will chair high-level events and address side meetings. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the prime minister will be accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya, Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, and other high ranking government officials.
The prime minister is scheduled to return to Nepal on July 4.
