The government has recommended convening the winter session of parliament on January 31.
A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to write to the President to summon the session, according to a minister.
Earlier today, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held discussions with Speaker Devraj Ghimire regarding the session.
Opposition parties have been putting pressure on the government to call a session immediately, warning of a special session if the delay continues. They have criticised the government for avoiding parliamentary discussions and introducing ordinances without proper legislative scrutiny.
The last session of parliament, the monsoon session, ended on September 16.
