US Assistant Secretary of State Lu meets Deputy Prime Minister Paudel in Kathmandu

Visiting US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu met with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel on Monday to discuss key issues surrounding the implementation of projects supported by the US government.
The meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar, Kathmandu, focused on topics such as economic assistance, the implementation of projects under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), and initiatives supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Finance. The two officials also discussed matters related to development, finance and private-sector investment, the secretariat of Minister Paudel reported.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Paudel emphasised that, with Nepal now experiencing political stability, the country’s primary focus is on achieving economic prosperity. He underscored the need for increased support from countries like the US to help Nepal reach its economic objectives.
Assistant Secretary Lu praised Nepal for its achievements in maintaining economic growth and political stability, despite the economic challenges faced by many South Asian countries. He also assured the US government’s continued commitment to strengthening its economic support for Nepal in the future.
Lu, who had previously visited India and Sri Lanka, arrived in Nepal on Sunday to conclude his South Asia tour.
