Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Sunday directed all agencies concerned to put all efforts into protecting the lives of people affected by the floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall.
Prime Minister Dahal instructed all government agencies to be active in rescue operations and provide relief after receiving information about the damage caused by floods and landslides in the country from the Singha Durbar-based control room.
Expressing sorrow over the loss of life and property caused by floods and landslides, the prime minister stated that active efforts must be made to rescue and provide relief to the citizens affected by the disaster.
“Systematic preparations have been made for disaster management. We have made every effort to maintain high alertness,” said Dahal. “It is anticipated that there could be significant damage from disasters this year. Accordingly, we have robust preparations for prevention and damage reduction. Let us use all our strength to protect the lives and property of the people.”
Urging all citizens to adopt necessary safety precautions against potential risks, the prime minister requested the cooperation of all political parties, civil society, and social organisations to support the government’s efforts.
Incessant monsoon rains have wreaked havoc in various places across the country. The floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains over two days have destroyed several houses, while vehicular movement has been disrupted on major highways and road sections.
