Normal life resumes after district panel lifts Krishnanagar curfew

The DAO’s had enforced the curfew since Sunday. Routine life gradually returned to normal in Krishnanagar on Tuesday.
Chief District Officer Arjun Prasad Pokharel said, the District Security Committee decided to lift the curfew at meeting held today as members felt the security situation had improved.
The curfew was clamped after an altercation between a group of Hindus and Muslims on the route to move around Durga idols in the town before immersion flared tensions.
On Tuesday, public transport resumed as usual while market places remained opened. Import of goods through Krishnanagar customs office started soon after the local administration announced their decision to lift the curfew order.
Chief of Custom Office Punya Bikram Khadka said more than Rs 10 million revenue was collected on Tuesday.
