There was no encouraging participation of voters in two re-polling centres of West Rukum on Friday.
The elections were cancelled on November 26 after acid was poured into the ballot boxes at Ratna Basic School, Kada (A) in Bafikot Rural Municipality-5 and Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, Gatasaina (B) in Aathbiskot Municipality-11.
At the Ratna Basic School centre, voter turnout was 59.07 percent on Friday, down 5 percent from the earlier participation, according to election officers.
At the Nepal Rastriya Secondary School centre, voter turnout was 42.46 percent on Friday, down from 65.34 percent on November 26. There were 672 voters in Bafikot Rural Municipality-5, Kada (A) and 756 voters in Aathbiskot Municipality-11, Gatasaina (B).
On November 26, 432 votes were cast at the Ratna Basic School centre before the incident whereas 494 votes were cast at the Nepal Rastriya Secondary School polling centre.
Chief Election Officer Kaji Bahadur Rai said the re-election was peaceful. Re-polling at the Ratna Basic School centre was for federal parliament, while that at the Nepal Rastriya Secondary School centre was for selecting a proportional representation (PR) candidate. Police said two persons were nabbed for their alleged involvement in the acid attack.
