Situation at a election center in Kharpunath Village Council-5 of Humla district became tense for a while when supporters of Nepali Congress official and rebel candidates clashed during local bodies election on Sunday.
Police had to fire two shots in the air to take the situation under control when supporters of NC's official candidate Bhim Bahadur Shahi and rebel candidate Prakash Bahadur Shahi pelted stones at each other during the voting.
Ministry for Water Supply & Sanitation Jivan Bahadur Shahi, who hails and is currently in Kharpu, summoned further security forces after the clash.
Voting had to be stopped for nearly 30 minutes during the scuffle. DSP Kamal Nepali said the situation has not returned to normalcy and voting has now resumed at the center.
