Engineers deployed to the earthquake-hit villages in Ramechhap have started a protest demanding work stations, transportation service, allowance and insurance. They have halted their works and gathered at Manthali, the district headquarters, to press their demands.
The National Reconstruction Authority had hired around 200 engineers to supervise the reconstruction work in Ramechhap.
The agitating engineers submitted a memorandum of their demands to the Urban Development Division Office on Tuesday.
Sunil Shrestha, an engineer assigned to Dorambha village, said the NRA had assured to address their grievances by September.
Months have passed and the NRA has not made any efforts to fulfil any of their demands, he added.
