A concrete bridge over a stream at Dhankute road in Dharan collapsed on Thursday night.
The 15 metre bridge that connected Koshi Highway to BP Koirala Institutute of Health Science collapsed as the east foundation of the bridge caved in due to the swelling of the stream.
A house and a tea shop of one Ranjita Rai near the bridge have sustained damage due to the incident.
The collapsing of the bridge has also damaged the main drinking water pipeline of Dharan Sub-metropolitan city ward no. 9 and 19.
Meanwhile, vehicular movement has been affected due to the bridge collapse and patients coming to the BPKIHS for treatment are bound to take a longer route from Putali line to reach the hospital.
