Nepse sheds 20.75 points as selling pressure drags most sectors lower
Turnover crosses Rs8.36 billion, with 214 stocks declining.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell by 20.75 points (0.77 percent) on Tuesday, closing at 2,642.15. The market remained under pressure throughout the trading session, with a majority of listed companies ending in the red.
Total turnover stood at Rs8.36 billion, with 20.55 million shares traded during the day. Of the traded stocks, 214 declined, 42 advanced, and six remained unchanged, reflecting broad-based selling across sectors.
Most sub-indices posted losses. The Finance Index recorded the sharpest drop, falling 2.11 percent to 2,418.23. The Hydropower Index declined 1.63 percent to 3,498.17, while the Hotels and Tourism Index slipped 1.19 percent to 7,159.34.
The Development Bank sub-index dropped 1.18 percent to 5,602.74. Life Insurance fell 0.78 percent to 12,601.61, and Non-Life Insurance decreased 0.75 percent to 10,856.30. The Manufacturing and Processing Index edged down 0.73 percent to 9,083.84.
The Banking sub-index, a key market indicator, declined 0.45 percent to 1,357.79. The Microfinance sub-index slipped 0.50 percent, while the Investment fell 0.48 percent. The Others sub-index dropped 0.58 percent.
Only two sub-sectors closed higher. The Trading rose 0.22 percent to 3,740.89, and the Mutual Fund Index gained 0.48 percent to 21.36.
