Nepse slumps 42.48 points as turnover declines
Benchmark index falls 1.53 per cent, while daily trading volume drops to Rs14.16 billion.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index recorded a sharp decline on Tuesday, falling by 42.48 points amid a drop in trading turnover.
The benchmark index slid 1.53 per cent to close at 2,726.51 points. Market sentiment remained broadly negative, with share prices of 224 companies declining, while only 34 advanced and two remained unchanged.
Of the 13 sub-indices, mutual funds remained stable, while all other sub-groups ended the session in negative territory.
A total of 30,262,710 shares were traded through 142,476 transactions during the session. According to the exchange, total turnover stood at Rs14.16 billion.
Trading volume also declined compared to the previous session. On Monday, shares worth Rs16.35 billion had been traded, reflecting weaker investor participation in Tuesday’s market.
