Nepse edges up 4.59 points, turnover declines
Share prices of 129 listed companies rose, while 115 fell and 15 remained unchanged.Post Report
The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) inched up by 4.59 points on Thursday, recovering modestly after a sharp fall in the previous session, even as overall trading turnover declined.
The benchmark index closed at 2,640.54 points, up 0.17 percent from Wednesday’s close of 2,635.94 points, when the market had dropped by 13.35 points.
Market data show that out of all traded companies, share prices of 129 increased, 115 declined and 15 remained unchanged. With gainers slightly outnumbering losers, the overall index managed a marginal rise.
A total of 10.43 million shares were traded in 69,261 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs4.90 billion. This was lower than Wednesday’s trading volume of Rs5.17 billion, indicating reduced investor activity despite the index gain.
Of the 13 sub-indices, finance companies, investment, microfinance, mutual funds, others and microfinance financial institutions posted declines. The remaining subgroups advanced, helping the benchmark index close in positive territory.
