The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) Index rose by 6.74 points on Monday, snapping a three-day losing streak, as gains in most sectors lifted the benchmark.
The index advanced 0.25 per cent from the previous session to close at 2,601.61 points.
Market breadth was positive, with share prices of 155 companies advancing, while 94 declined and 10 remained unchanged. The higher number of gainers helped push the overall market into positive territory.
Trading activity, however, weakened compared to the previous day. A total of 7.76 million shares were traded through 56,122 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs3.44 billion. On Sunday, the market had recorded transactions worth around Rs4 billion.
Of the 13 sub-indices in operation, hotel and tourism, investment, microfinance, mutual funds and the ‘others’ group ended lower. The remaining sub-indices closed in positive territory, contributing to the overall rise in the benchmark index.
