Lumbini Heritage Limited has partnered with IHG Hotels & Resorts to open a Crowne Plaza hotel in Lumbini, marking a major addition to Nepal’s hospitality sector.
The agreement brings the globally recognised Crowne Plaza brand to the birthplace of Lord Buddha, underscoring efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure in one of Nepal’s most significant cultural and spiritual destinations, the company said.
The Crowne Plaza Lumbini will feature contemporary architecture, premium guest rooms, versatile meeting facilities, multiple dining options and wellness amenities, catering to both business and leisure travellers.
Subhash Amatya, chairman of Lumbini Heritage Limited, said the partnership reflects a shared vision to raise hospitality standards in Lumbini. “With IHG’s global expertise and the strength of the Crowne Plaza brand, we are confident the hotel will create a premium space for travellers while supporting the region’s growing tourism industry,” he said.
Sudeep Jain, managing director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the collaboration reinforces the company’s commitment to expanding world-class hospitality across Nepal. “Lumbini holds immense spiritual and cultural significance, and we believe Crowne Plaza Lumbini will become a preferred destination for both domestic and international visitors,” he said.
The project is expected to generate local employment and help position Lumbini as a global spiritual and cultural hub, contributing to Nepal’s broader tourism growth.
