Government unveils Rs1.964 trillion budget for FY 2025–26
Recurrent expenditure to take up 60 percent of budget; capital and financial management allocations also increased.

Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel on Thursday presented a Rs1.964 trillion budget estimate for the upcoming fiscal year 2025–26, beginning mid-July.
The government had unveiled a Rs1.86 trillion budget last year.
Addressing a joint session of the Federal Parliament, Minister Paudel said the government has earmarked Rs1.180 trillion—or 60.1 percent of the total budget—for recurrent expenditure. Capital expenditure has been set at Rs407.69 billion (20.8 percent), while Rs375.24 billion (19.1 percent) has been allocated for financial management.
For financing the budget, the government expects to raise Rs1.315 trillion through revenue collection. It aims to meet the remaining requirement through Rs362 billion in internal borrowing, Rs233 billion in external loans, and Rs53 billion in foreign grants.
