Nepali entrepreneur and development practitioner Prasidha B Panday has published a book examining how Nepal could expand its economy to a gross domestic product of $100 billion.

Prime Minister and Prosperity: Getting Nepal to $100 Billion GDP looks at ways to improve economic output, exports, employment, investment and government revenue, drawing on Panday’s more than three decades of experience in infrastructure, telecommunications, industry, investment, hospitality and tourism.

Panday, a former president of the Hotel Association Nepal and chairperson of Shangri-La Hospitality Group, has worked with international companies including Alcatel and Mitsubishi and has been involved in telecommunications and hospitality projects in Nepal.

The book argues that Nepal’s economic challenge is less about identifying its potential than turning that potential into measurable economic activity. It proposes a stronger Prime Minister’s Office and a “Prime Minister Delivery System” to assign responsibility, set milestones and publicly report progress on national economic priorities.

Panday also examines the experiences of South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, Bhutan and Singapore, and considers how Nepal could apply lessons from their economic development.

The book was released during Janai Purnima and is available at major bookstores in Kathmandu and through online platforms, including Amazon and Apple Books.

Panday has said proceeds from book sales will be donated to the Government of Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
