Nepal Students’ Union (NSU), the student wing of the main opposition, Nepali Congress (NC), on Friday staged a demonstration to protest against the price hike in petroleum products in Kathmandu.
The agitating students demonstrated outside the government colleges demanding withdrawal of the price hike decision.
Addressing a protest assembly, NSU Vice President Ram Prasad Adhikari said they resorted to protest due to continuous rise in the price of petroleum products.
“Repeated price hikes in petroleum products have affected the daily lives of many people. We demand the government to roll back its decision to raise the fuel price,” he said.
The NSU also announced its plan to organise a torch rally across the country on June 9, bar vehicles belonging to government offices and corporations from travelling through government colleges on June 10, and to burn the effigy of Prime Minister KP Oli on June 12.
