Nepal reports 180 cases as rapid antigen tests added to daily infection tallies

Nepal on Monday reported 119 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 976,984.
Similarly, 61 people tested positive in a total of 3,123 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Monday, 5,421,609 PCR and 1,062,994 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,218 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
One person died from Covid-19-related infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The countrywide death toll has reached 11,936 since the pandemic began.
According to the ministry, 956,413 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 400 of them in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 8,235.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 49 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 40 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu and five in Lalitpur and four in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 18 new infections were recorded in Province 1, four in Madhesh Pradesh, 65 in Bagmati, 18 in Gandaki, 12 in Lumbini and two in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, two districts are home to more than 500 active cases each, other eight districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Monday, 80 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another six—five in Bagmati and one in Province 1—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Sunday reported 94 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and one death. Similarly, 101 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and two deaths were recorded on Saturday and 158 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and one death was reported on Friday.
