Nepal reports 318 cases as rapid antigen tests added to daily infection tallies

Nepal on Thursday reported 151 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 976,512.
Similarly, 167 people tested positive in a total of 2,235 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Thursday, 5,402,214 PCR and 1,050,558 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 5,508 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
One person died from Covid-19-related infections in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. The countrywide death toll has reached 11,931 since the pandemic began.
According to the ministry, 954,903 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 562 of them in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stands at 9,678.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 58 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 51 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu and seven in Lalitpur.
In the past 24 hours, 22 new infections were recorded in Province 1, four in Madhesh Pradesh, 71 in Bagmati, 18 in Gandaki, 21 in Lumbini, four in Karnali and 11 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, three districts are home to more than 500 active cases each, other 10 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Thursday, 93 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 17—two in Province 1, 13 in Bagmati and one each in Gandaki and Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 256 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and two deaths. Similarly, 299 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and three deaths were recorded on Tuesday and 247 new PCR confirmed coronavirus cases and four deaths were reported on Monday.
