Nepal on Friday reported 174 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 814,289.

Similarly, nine people tested positive in a total of 2,537 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Friday, 4,447,500 PCR and 677,486 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 2,307 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported two Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 11,438. The number of active cases stands at 8,413.

According to the ministry, 794,438 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 649 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 78 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 47 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 22 in Lalitpur and nine in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 23 new infections were recorded in Province 1, five in Province 2, 90 in Bagmati, 23 in Gandaki, 25 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and six in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, three districts are home to more than 500 active cases each; nine other districts host more than 200 active cases each while Mugu and Humla districts have zero active cases.

On Friday, 200 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 55-16 in Province 1, 31 in Bagmati, two in Gandaki, four in Lumbini, and one each in Karnali and in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Thursday reported 287 new coronavirus cases and two deaths. Similarly, 395 new coronavirus cases and seven deaths were recorded on Wednesday and 422 new coronavirus cases and 11 deaths were reported on Tuesday.
