Nepal on Thursday reported 18 Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,052. The country also recorded 3,051 new cases.

The overall national infection tally has reached 185,974 with 36,514 active cases. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,398 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 1,091 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 160 in Lalitpur and 147 in Bhaktapur.

As of Thursday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 84,344. While Kathmandu has reported 259 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have recorded 69 and 65 deaths respectively.

The country has reported 115 deaths due to Covid-19-related complications in the past five days.

Nepal on Wednesday reported 30 Covid-19-related deaths, the highest single day record, and 3,309 new infections compared to 20 deaths and 3,114 new infections on Tuesday and 24 deaths and 2,933 infections on Monday. The country had recorded 23 deaths and 2,824 infections on Sunday.

According to the ministry, 522 individuals from Bagmati Province, 162 from Province 2, 146 from Lumbini Province, 129 from Province 1, 61 from Gandaki Province, 19 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 13 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.

The country has witnessed 167,980 infections and 1,012 deaths since July 22. A total of 17,994 cases and 40 deaths were registered until July 21, when the government decided to end the nationwide lockdown after four months.

As of Thursday, 1,507,190 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 13,068 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.

In the past 24 hours, 380 new infections were reported in Province 1, 79 in Province 2, and 1,634 in Bagmati Province.

Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 279, 597, five and 77 cases.

Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kaski, Palpa and Rupandehi districts reported more than 100 infections in the past 24 hours.

While thirteen districts—Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Kaski, Nawalparasi (East), Dang, and Rupandehi—have more than 500 active cases, Manang and Bajura do not have any active case, according to the ministry.

As of Thursday, 428 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country. Seventy-four others—35 in Bagmati Province, 17 in Gandaki Province, 13 in Province 1, five in Lumbini Province, and four in Sudurpaschim Province—are on ventilator support.
