Nepal on Monday reported 24 Covid-19-related fatalities taking the death toll to 984. The country also recorded 2,933 new cases, pushing the national infection tally to 176,500.

The number of active cases stands at 37,524 as 137,992 people have made successful recovery—3,150 of them in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,630 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 1,329 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 193 in Lalitpur and 108 in Bhaktapur.

As of Monday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 79,600. While Kathmandu has reported 243 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have recorded 67 and 63 deaths respectively.

According to the ministry, 494 individuals from Bagmati Province, 157 from Province 2, 133 from Lumbini Province, 117 from Province 1, 54 from Gandaki Province, 17 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 12 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.

The country has witnessed 158,506 infections and 944 deaths since July 22. A total of 17,994 cases and 40 deaths were registered until July 21, when the government decided to end the nationwide lockdown after four months.

As of Monday, 1,469,812 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 13,446 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.

In the past 24 hours, 441 new infections were reported in Province 1, 104 in Province 2, and 2,003 in Bagmati Province.

Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 255, 279, 13 and 50 cases.

Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Kaski and Rupandehi districts reported more than 100 infections in the past 24 hours.

While fourteen districts—Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Kaski, Nawalparasi (East), Dang, Rupandehi and Kailali—have more than 500 active cases, Manang, Mustang and Bajura do not have any active case, according to the ministry.

As of Monday, 347 Covid-19 patients are being treated in intensive care units across the country and 74 others—47 in Bagmati Province, 12 in Province 1, eight in Gandaki, six in Lumbini, and one in Sudurpaschim—are on ventilator support.

Nepal on Sunday reported 23 Covid-19-related deaths and 2,824 new infections compared to 17 deaths and 2,508 new cases on Saturday and 16 deaths and 3,517 new cases on Friday.
