Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 126 with six more deaths; 707 new cases confirmed

Nepal on Thursday reported six more Covid-19-related deaths, taking the fatalities to 126. Meanwhile, with 707 new infections in the last 24 hours, the national tally has reached 29,645.
The Health Ministry said that six people—two men and a woman from Parsa, one woman from Kathmandu and one man each from Makwanpur and Saptrai districts—succumbed to the disease.
According to the ministry, 51 individuals from Province 2, 25 from Bagmati Province, 16 from Province 5, 14 from Province 1, eight each from Sudurpaschim and Gandaki Province and four from Karnali have died from Covid-19-related conditions so far.
A total of 11,832 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were carried out in the past 24 hours. So far, 566,220 PCR tests have been performed in the country.
Samples of 174 individuals from Kathmandu, 93 from Sarlai, 55 from Parsa, 31 each from Dhanusha and Achham, 30 from Kapilvastu, 25 from Makwanpur, 21 from Siraha, 19 each from Saptari, Kaski and Dailekh, 18 each from Lalitpur and Rupandehi, 16 each from Banke and Doti, 15 from Mahottari, 13 from Sunsari, nine each from Morang and Tehratum, eight each from Bara, Bhaktapur and Baglung, six from Rautahat, four each from Udayapur and Dang, three each from Nuwakot, Nawalparasi (East) and Gulmi, two each from Dhading, Dolakha, Tanahun, Bardiya and Dadeldhulra, and one each from Dhankuta, Jhapa, Chitwan, Kavre, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Gorkha, Syangja, Palpa, Rolpa, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Salyan, Surkhet, Rukum (West), Baitadi, Bajhang, Darchula and Kailali tested positive for the coronavirus.
So far, 17,964 individuals have made successful recoveries after being diagnosed with Covid-19. According to the ministry, 264 Covid patients were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours. There are 11,555 active infections in the country.
“One hundred and twenty-nine patients are undergoing treatment at intensive care units in various hospitals across the country while seven patients in Bagmati Province are being treated with ventilator support,” said Gautam.
“There are 946 ICU beds and 496 ventilators available for Covid-19 patients across the country.”
Four districts—Bhojpur, Manang, Mustang and Humla—don’t have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Nepal had reported six covid-19-related deaths and 681 new cases on Wednesday compared to 1,016 new infections, the highest daily spike in Covid-19 cases, and six deaths on Tuesday. The country recorded three Covid-19-related deaths and 581 new infections on Monday. On Sunday, there were two Covid-19-related deaths and 641 new infections. Saturday saw 468 new infections and three Covid-19-related deaths. Four deaths and 594 new infections were reported on Friday.
