Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 120 with six more deaths; 681 new cases confirmed

Nepal on Wednesday reported six more Covid-19-related deaths, taking the fatalities to 120. Meanwhile, with 681 new infections in the last 24 hours, the national tally has reached 28,938.
The Health Ministry said that six people—two men from Kathmandu and Bardiya; and four women from Morang, Bhaktapur, Chitwan and Sunsari districts—succumbed to the disease.
According to the ministry, 47 individuals from Province 2, 23 from Bagmati Province, 16 from Province 5, 14 from Province 1, eight from Sudurpaschim Province, eight from Gandaki Province and four from Karnali have died from Covid-19-related conditions so far.
A total of 11,522 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests were carried out in the past 24 hours. So far, 554,388 PCR tests have been performed in the country.
Samples of 134 individuals from Kathmandu, 108 from Parsa, 69 from Morang, 52 from Rupandehi, 36 from Sunsari, 28 from Dhanusha, 24 from Chitwan, 19 each from Sarlahi and Siraha; 18 from Banke, 17 each from Lalitpur and Salyan, 16 from Jhapa, 15 from Bara, 13 each from Saptari and Surkhet, and 12 each from Mahottari and Nawalparasi (East) tested positive for the coronavirus.
Test results of nine from Jumla, eight from Bhaktapur, six from Kapilvastu, five from Kaski, four each from Rautahat, Tanahun, Dailekh and Doti; three each from Gorkha, Lamjung, Dang, Achham and Kailali; two each from Pyuthan and Bardiya; and one each from Okhaldhunga, Panchthar, Dhading, Nawalparasi (West), Palpa and Dolpa also came positive.
Nepal had reported 1,016 new infections, the highest daily spike in Covid-19 cases, and six deaths on Tuesday. The country recorded three Covid-19-related deaths and 581 new infections on Monday. On Sunday, there were two Covid-19-related deaths and 641 new infections. Saturday saw 468 new infections and three Covid-19-related deaths. Four deaths and 594 new infections were reported on Friday and four deaths and 525 new cases on Thursday.
So far, 17,700 individuals have made successful recoveries after being diagnosed with Covid-19. According to the ministry, 120 Covid patients were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours.
Three districts—Manang, Mustang and Humla—don’t have any active cases, according to the ministry.
