Rameshwar Thapa’s ‘Into the Fire’ launched
In his book, Thapa offers insights into the challenges and sufferings of war-affected regions during the Maoist insurgency.Post Report
Captain Rameshwor Thapa released the English version of his book ‘Barudhmathi Uddha’, titled ‘Into the Fire’, on Saturday at the APF Headquarters in Halchowk.
The book, which details Captain Thapa’s experience as a helicopter pilot during the Maoist insurgency, was translated into English from Nepali by Biswas Baral, the editor-in-chief of The Kathmandu Post.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was the Chief Guest, whereas President of the Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba and Bal Guru Aditya Nath were the special guests.
The Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, Chairman of FNCCI, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, and different personalities attended the event. Baral initiated the programme by reading an important excerpt from the newly translated book.
Similarly, journalist Vijay Kumar delivered a critical review, commenting on the challenges and triumphs of Captain Thapa’s life. Likewise, Deuba congratulated the author for his newly published book.
In his address, Prime Minister Oli said, “We have launched a book that contains a part of our history.” He also thanked the audience for their presence and stated that their involvement in such events signifies that the country is moving in the right direction.
The book launch featured a dance performance by the Nepal Police team and Karan Pariyar's rendition of the song ‘Jaha Chan Buddha Ka Aankha’. Two video presentations were also shown, one detailing Captain Thapa’s life story and another focusing on the book’s publication journey.
The event concluded with the presentation of tokens of love to the guests.
