Parkhang Pasal presents ‘HAMI EK’, a queer art exhibition curated by artist Ugem, from June 16 to July 15.
Featuring participating artists Angel Rai, Mr Poul, Nangboong, Rabina, Suni and Ugem, ‘HAMI EK’ is, as they say, a sanctuary for their stories. In line with Pride Month, the exhibit creates a collective space where queer artists can share their experiences, emotions, and visions through creative expression.
It also brings the artistic embodiment of indigenous identities, examining the nuances of intersectionality and the overlapping social, cultural and political dimensions that shape individual experiences.
“It is an unconventional effort to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community in Parkhang Pasal,” says curator Ugem. “I am excited to see how this unfolds.”
Through personal and artistic narratives, the exhibit seeks to foster dialogue and understanding about gender, sexuality, identity, and art.
This presentation embraces vulnerability while celebrating resilience, centring on the belief that every story matters. It honours the ways queer artists exist, create, love, and imagine new futures.
“From shared joy to shared grief, we gather in a space of care, creativity, and connection,” states the artists’ note.
