Thecho Yomari Musical Jatra ended on Sunday with a traditional performance by more than 50 artists in front of the historic Thecho Brahmayani Temple. The event was organised by Manka Sanskritik Samuha (Manka Band).
The programme featured local singers, dancers, and popular homegrown groups, including 7 Wonders Band, The Saptak Band, Sankat Band, and Newa Rhythm Band. The highlight came at the end of the event, when more than 50 musicians performed together on traditional Newa instruments such as dhimey, dhaa:, nayo khin, bhusya, khin, etc—the first time Thecho has hosted an orchestral show.

Speaking at the event, Godawari Mayor Gajendra Maharjan praised Manka Band for promoting Nepali folk music and preserving Newa traditions. He also promised support for future cultural programmes through the municipality and Ward 12.
Sabir Maharjan, president of Manka Band and the programme coordinator, said the event aimed to promote traditional Newa music, support local musicians, and highlight Thecho’s cultural heritage. “This may be the first orchestra performance in Thecho, but it won’t be the last,” he said.
The event drew a large audience who enjoyed the performances and bid farewell to this year’s Thecho Jatra in high spirits.
