This month’s edition of the Paleti music series, held at Nepalaya’s R-Sala on the last Friday and Saturday of every English month, will feature a collaboration between lyricist Kali Prasad Rijal and musician Aavaas. Aavaas will present his compositions and vocals for Rijal’s new lyrics at 6:00 pm today and tomorrow.
Rijal, performing after a gap, said, “I’ve been writing new songs for a while, and I am eager to collaborate with Aavaas.”
Some of Rijal’s classic songs—such as ‘Kehi Mitho Baat Gara’, ‘Aankha Chopi Narou Bhani’, and ‘Jhareko Paat Jhai’—were performed and composed by Narayan Gopal.
Aavaas, who has been curating Paleti for over 20 years, will perform as a singer and composer this time. He has composed melodies for eight new songs written by Rijal. “Rijal’s lyrics are akin to poetry,” he said.
Rijal’s new book ‘Kehi Mitho Baat Gara’, a collection of his songs and poems, will also be launched during the event. The book features 20 poems by Rijal. Similarly, it includes 68 of his songs.
“We’ve also included staff notations for 10 of Rijal’s songs in the book to make it easier for musicians,” said Bimal Acharya, editor at Publication Nepalaya.
