The UK Embassy hosted the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award Ceremony on Wednesday. Saksham Yuwa Nepal organised the event, which celebrated the achievements of 21 young individuals.
Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, graced the ceremony, along with the British Ambassador to Nepal, Rob Fenn, and other distinguished guests from the International Award Foundation.
During the event, Saksham Yuwa Nepal was officially granted the full license to operate as the National Award Operator (NAO) for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in Nepal.
The Award encourages young people to set goals, develop skills, and engage in community service. The programme offers three levels: Bronze (6 months), Silver (12 months), and Gold (18 months). Participants log their progress in skill development, physical recreation, and voluntary service to qualify for recognition.
The awardees include Anushka Regmi for her efforts in mental health initiative, Ritik Magiya for his expertise in Karate, Atha Malla for adventurous activities, Suraj Thapa for his dedication to skill development and Dristi Gautam for her volunteer service.
Prince Edward praised the awardees, commending their dedication and perseverance. “Well done to all the individuals and the team for their success,” he remarked, expressing gratitude to Ambassador Fenn for his support. The event also featured a cultural performance by Regent Residential School.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award motivates young people worldwide by fostering leadership, resilience, and community involvement. At the end of the ceremony, award recipients were urged to uphold these values and make a positive difference in their communities and beyond.
