Dorchester is a neighbourhood comprising over 6 square miles (16 km). It is by far Boston’s largest and most populous community. The neighbourhood offers access to grocery stores, restaurants, and public transport, making it a practical choice for Nepali students.

Pros: The neighbourhood offers affordable living and a variety of housing options. The area also has a growing Nepali community, providing a sense of familiarity.

Cons: Some areas may be perceived as less safe, so it’s important to research neighbourhoods carefully. Also, it may take a bit longer to commute to central campuses.

Malden

Located just north of Boston, Malden is primarily residential and provides a quieter environment with good amenities. It is just 9.5 miles away from Boston. Various colleges and universities, including Tufts University and MCPHS University, serve the area, making it an attractive location for students.

Pros: Compared to central Boston, Malden generally has lower rental prices, making it more budget-friendly for students looking for housing options.

Cons: While public transport is available, it may not be as extensive as in larger cities. Students without cars might find it challenging to reach some destinations outside of the immediate area.

Roxbury
