Janakpurdham Literature Festival to start on April 6

Maithili Development Trust (MDT) is all set to hold the Janakpurdham Literature Festival 2022 from April 6th to 8th in Janakpur. The three-day-long festival will feature artists from Nepal and India who have made significant contributions in the field of literature, art, and culture.
In a press conference held on Sunday, MDT’s Chairman Jivanath Chaudhary said that the preparations for the festival have been completed and the festival will be inaugurated by former Prime Minister and CPN (Unified-Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.
During the festival, Jankapur’s Mithila Natyakala Parishad (MINAP) will stage the play 'Gam Nai Sutaiye', written by Mahendra Malangi and directed by Pramesh Jha. Apart from this, Darbhanga's Natya Samuha will perform ‘Abhishapat Deobrat’, Bharat Manipur's Akhok Natya Samuha will perform ‘H Sister’ (Hindi language), and Veg Prali Kathmandu will perform ‘Dhalke Salaijo’ (Nepali language).
The literary festival will also have discourses on themes like rebellion in power, restraint on mother tongue, language, dialect, etc.
According to the organisers, the main attraction of the festival will be ‘Jhanki’, a cultural dance performance that will be performed during the festival’s inauguration.
