A partial influence of a westerly low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere is affecting Nepal’s weather, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said on Friday.

According to the division, the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will remain generally cloudy during the day, while other hilly and mountainous areas will see partly cloudy conditions. The Terai region is expected to remain mainly fair, with morning mist in some places.

Light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the hills and mountains of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in similar regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Tonight, the mountainous region will remain generally cloudy and the hilly region partly cloudy, while the Terai will stay mainly fair with mist in a few places.

The division said there is a chance of light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali provinces.
